India breaks the jinx!!!

At last ......... at long last ........team India showed its true colors, and they did it in style- beating Australia in their own backyard. It was a no mean achievement given they have not won any major international trophy since 2003 (The Natwest trophy being the last)



Initially there was turmoil in the team with complaints of improper treatment meted out to the seniors. (I personally am sad because Ganguly was not included in this team. I would have loved seeing him in this team). Also controversies were following the team on and off the field (though I feel that India got a raw deal in that).



I thought India would crumble under pressure but this new and young indian team, under the leadership of Dhoni showed character. For a change, they not only stood up against all odds but also derived their strength from those controversies. Bhajji's handling of the whole "Teri Maa ki" issue was truly commendable under the given circumstances. This Indian team showed fighting spirit rarely found in Indian teams that toured Down under previously (Infact I feel that the process of turnaround started under Ganguly's captaincy, which has now precipitated to what we have witnessed/ are witnessing). They responded to whatever the kangarooz hurled at them- off the field and as well as on the field.



An undesired part of the process was obviously dropping old guns of the team. That was essential to select a young team. This team exemplified that this team had the hunger to win and they justified their selection to the team (at least most of them did).



A special mention must be made about the quality of Dhoni's captaincy. He showed faith in his young boys and they repaid that faith by performing on the field. I was impressed by how he behaved just after India clinched the CB series. A cool, calm, composed and a performing captain is what India needs at this moment.



Last but not the least, it came at a time when India colts won the world cup defeating the proteas under 19 team. So it seems that Indian cricket has a bright future unless the cash rich, power hungry morons presiding the BCCI offices screws it up!

Our Valentine Realizations!!!!!

This year i spent my valentine day very differently. No, the sena brigade did not intimidate me nor the lack of "special" friends of opposite sex. For a change, i decided to spend it alone in my room as i had to get up early next day to attend some "official seminar" of utmost importance ...... i even declined bhupi's invitation of dinner outside.......

but @ around 9:30 pm auri came in a pila "panjaabi" :P nd convinced me to go to a dinner. nd the person I am, got convinced, nd went. there were 4 of us ......... they assured me dat it will take only an hour to complete as our 4th member was very pissed off (dunno why!!!) ......... so it wont take much time to have our dinner ......... being a special day (the day was 14th feb nd u never know when a damsel will fall for u nd u shud always b prepared 4 it :D). I donned my new YO striped shirt ... bhupi was as usual at his suave best!!! ......... we then took off to Oceanic ......

there was a huge waitin nd i soon realised that d 1 hr clause wont b honored in any way ....... but its not that we didnt njoi our wait with our usual dose of bhasad....... life became pinky but we didnt get kinky!!!!! ;)

At last we got a table @ d terrace ....... we were soon joined by a mutual frnd!!!! ....... it was said of him that he is hanging out with his male frndz for a change (kaash apna bhi aisa taqdeer hota :( )!!!!!!

We celebrated with fine white wine..... it was mine n bhupi's choice!!! ........ bhupi also took care of the starters' ......... Auri from the strt was bit philosophical about spendin the valentine's day with his male frndz for the first time in his life!!! ............ he started off with despising all his manipulative gfs with whom he didnt want to spend ne more time together .................. we all agreed with him especially since me n my valentine shared d same feelin!!! ;)

after one round of wine, it was decided that everyone shall tell few things about others- good/ bad- ekdam dil se!!! ......... auri pledged in our mother tongue that we shud catch up with each other more often!!! ........... it was a self relization for most of us (didnt matter for bhupi actually ....... he was njoin d show!!) .... we also got to know each other more closely ......... the best part came at the last when we had to give feedback about my valentine!!! ......... with few inputs frm our mutual frnd ....... my valentine was proclaimed as the most brilliant of the lot nd as well as the biggest underperformer!!!! ......

by the end of the evenin, we were a bit more acquainted about each other nd a bit more enlightened about oneself!!! ..... as we left nd i got to c my watch .. it was 12:30 am!!!!
